University of Windsor Outreach - India

Thank you very much for your interest in the University of Windsor. You are not alone. Windsor is THE most popular education destination for Indians going to Canada. More than 400 Indian students are at Windsor. In fact, there are only a handful of universities in the U.S. with as many Indian students.

You will find Indian students in our Bachelor degree programs for Business, Engineering, Computer Science, Biotechnology, Communications and more. Starting this year, we are attracting Indian students to our new course-based Masters degrees in Engineering and Management.

Students in India are welcome to visit any one of our four liaison offices:

ACADEMIC AGREEMENTS IN INDIA

UW President Dr. Paul writes:

The Bengal Engineering and Science University (BESU), a 150 year old premier engineering institution, is first on the list of the India universities to be launched to the very top tier level of the famous Indian Institutes of Technology. We are very fortunate, thanks to the advance party efforts of [Windsor Engineering professors] Graham Reader, Nihar Biswas and Peter Frise, to be in partnership with them. BESU's Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Banarjea, has a particular interest in automotive engineering to the doctoral level and so I am confident that we will find many synergies for collaborative programming and research and for student and faculty exchanges.

We also signed an agreement with the Ansal Institute and its Director, Professor Singh, whom I had met two years ago during my last visit to India. I had the opportunity to visit the Institute which is a relatively new University created by Mr. Ansal and his son who run India¹s third largest real estate firm at over $2 billion. Ansal is particularly important to us because of its interest in Science, especially Computer Science, and Engineering and because two new automotive plants are about to be constructed within 10-15 minutes of their campus. Again, we envision exchanges, collaborative programming and great opportunities for internships and applied research. The Institute is located in Gargaon in Northwest Delhi, one of the most incredibly booming places I have ever seen.

Also pictured at the signing in Delhi is Ms. Sandra Pupatello, the Ontario Minister of Economic Development and Trade - and a Windsor graduate !
