Farthosa Osman Visions Electronics FARTHOSA OSMAN Kenya Windsor - the small U.N. Farthosa Osman hit the ground running when she came to the University of Windsor and never slowed down. In two years, Farthosa earned an Honours in Business Administration degree and in less than a week of job hunting got a permanent accounting position at leading electronics retail company in Alberta, Canada. Farthosa is an international student from Kenya who transferred from Taylor's College, a reputable institution in Malaysia and enrolled in third-year Business Administration (Honours). "It was really hard to start my third year in a new university, but it turns out, we have some of the very best professors at the University of Windsor and by second semester I adjusted," said Farthosa Osman. It wasn't the professors alone that made the transition easier for Farthosa, it was the students at the school and the roommates she shared a house with who played a critical role in acquainting her with the city and the University says Farthosa. "The thing I liked the most about the University of Windsor is the diversity of the students and the common denominator of people really seeking education," expressed Farthosa. "Windsor is like a small U.N. and I wouldn't have missed it for anything." It was a friend at the University who told Farthosa about Alberta's booming job market. Sure enough, in less than a week in Alberta, she secured a permanent accounting position at Visions Electronics' head-office, one of the leading electronic stores in Western Canada. "I went to Alberta right after the Christmas holidays and it took less than a week to find a job in my field," said Farthosa. "I arrived on a Saturday and by the following Friday I got a great job offer." Through the two years post-graduation work permit, Farthosa can gain the work experience required for Chartered Accountant certification. She plans to maximize on her education and experience by taking her acquired skills back to Kenya. "All the knowledge and expertise I have gained here, I want to take it back home and put some good use into it where people really need it," said Farthosa.
